locksmith manchesterSpades left unsecured in gardens have been used by burglars to break into two houses in Surrey.

Both properties in the Compton area of Guildford were targeted on Wednesday during the day, police said.

In the first, a spade was used to lever part of a stable door open, enabling the thieves to use keys left in the lock to open the door of the house.

In the second, a spade was used to spring open the windows of a house, from which medals & jewellery were stolen.

It is advised to lock away anything that help a potential burglar gain entry into your home such as garden implements or ladders. Also locking gates to stop people wandering to the rear of you home is strongly recommended.
